Lyrics
Sometimes this job can seem surreal,
And at times I just don’t know how to feel,
It’s a challenge and a joy at the same time,
An emotional mountain for me to climb,
Sometimes I climb up sometimes down,
Wearing a smile or sometimes a frown,
But I know I’m not on my own,
With my colleagues behind me I’m never alone,
Yet there’s now where else I’d rather be,
Than part of the hospice family,
We share a hug and a cup of tea,
We’re part of the hospice family
Some relationships can be so brief,
It’s a difficult emotion this thing called grief,
An honour and a privilege to be there,
Someone to lean on in a time of despair,
My role requires so many things,
No matter what the day ahead may bring
If we can laugh or manage a smile,
At the end of the day it’s a job worthwhile,
Yet there’s now where else I’d rather be,
Than part of the hospice family,
We share a hug and a cup of tea,
We’re part of the hospice family
Sometimes we need a friendly face,
In what can seem such a scary place,
I never thought this job would be for me,
The good, the bad and all in-between,
Yet there’s now where else I’d rather be,
Than part of the hospice family,
We share a hug and a cup of tea,
We’re part of the hospice family
We’re part of the hospice family,
We’re part of the hospice family.
