Written by Richard Gibson & Ben Buddy Slack.
“This song is for my son Leo who died in 2021. Music was a big part of his life and when I heard about the Swan Song Project I immediately thought that writing a song would be the perfect way to honour his memory. Leo played the drums and the guitar and before the Covid lockdown would meet with friends to play music together. He was constantly listening to music and was prepared to try lots of different artists and styles of music, some of which we had a shared appreciation for. I wanted to write a song that reflected some of the great memories from those that knew him and in a style that he would want to listen to himself. With Ben’s help I have ended up with a song I am really proud of and one I know Leo would be proud of too. A song is dynamic and changes every time it is sung, unique to that moment, the singer and the listener. So long as there are people to sing his song Leo will be alive with us.”

Lyrics
Hey there Boy Wonder how did you get so tall
Striding out so confident don’t forget to call
You got your ear buds in music pumping out so loud
On your way to wherever to hang out with your crowd
Walking around this lazy town in sunshine and rain
Taking that long walk home down Westfield Lane
Now those worn out trainers are still on the hall floor
Your Harrington jacket hangs on the back of the door
Chorus
I see your electric smile
The twinkle in your eyes
Your pulsing beat driving our dancing feet
Lifts our spirits to the sky
Singing songs at the top of our lungs
Keeping us forever young
Singing songs at the top of our lungs
Keeping us forever young
The room fills with the sound of our heroes song
Telling each other stories from our day just gone
You were always willing to give more than you took
A shoulder for us to cry on when down on our luck
On hand with the jokes till we cry tears of laughter
Too young to be thinking of a life ever after
Now we’re Twisting in the kitchen, tequila hitting the mark
Watching New Year fireworks bursting over the park
Chorus
That last evening that I saw you
Well we talked of futures nigh
And when I wished you goodnight
I didn’t know I was saying goodbye
Now we gather on the hillside where you rest
Watching the sun sink down into the West
So grateful for the time that we spent together
Our hearts filled with your love to carry forever
My skin is charged with your essence reaching for your embrace
But only cold air surrounds these tears on my face
And as we turn to the blinding light looking for a sign
We hear the Boy Wonder count the band in one more time
Chorus
I see your electric smile
The twinkle in your eyes
Your pulsing beat driving our dancing feet
Lifts our spirits to the sky
Now all your songs have been sung
You will stay forever young
Now all of your songs have been sung
You will stay forever young
Forever Young
Forever Young
Forever Young
